Table Mountain

Table Mountain is the most renowned mountain range in Cape Town, South Africa. This flat topped mountain is forming a prominent landmark and is in the flag of Cape Town and other local government insignia. It is a significant tourist attraction, with many visitors using the cableway or hiking to the top. The mountain forms part of the Table Mountain National Park. In 1998, Table Mountain National Park was established to protect the natural environment in South Africa especially the rare Fynbos vegetation which means “fine bush” in African language. Fynbos grows in Cape Floral Region Protected Areas, a declared UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004. Popular tourist activities at Table Mountain include caving, hiking and rock climbing. The best times in a year to visit Table Mountain in South Africa are from September to April.
